Preliminary Exercise
Feedback was fairly good for our prelim however the camera was very wobbly in the shot where it follows her across the room because I was walking with the camera. We could improve on this in our final piece by using the track.It also needs more dialougue and we need to make sure we don't cut any of the dialouge out whilst filming. The piece also needs to be a lot longer as it was very short and we need a much bigger variation of shots. Despite these things Im quite happy with our prelim considering it was our first attempt and the time we had to do it.

Diary
Filming entry 2: Today we finished our first attempt at our thriller opening by filming the night time section. Today's filming involved scenes in both the dining room and the kitchen and it builds up to the killer attacking her.
Filming entry 3: After being told that our shots were not creative enough, today we reshot our thriller opening. We tried to keep in continuity with the first two days in case we needed any of the previous shots. We filmed the entire piece today and we are feeling more confident about it than we did about the first two times.
Editing entry 1: Today we started editing our thriller opening. We captured all of the shots from the tape and started a rough cut. We have started to take the shots from the bin and put them to a time that seemed good enough for the rough cut.
Editing entry 2: Today we carried on editing our thriller opening. We carried on with our rough cut and have nearly finished it.
Editing entry 3: Today we finished our rough cut but realised the beginning of our piece isn't good enough to put our title credits over so we have decided to shoot a small section that will go at the beginning of the piece.
Editing entry 4: We still haven't had time to film yet so we started editing our piece in more detail today from the beginning. We will need to get the timings exactly right and add effects.
Editing entry 5: Today we added the new section to the beginning of our piece and finished editing the film in detail. We decided to get rid of the scene in which we planning to use effects because it wasn't needed in the piece.
Editing entry 6: Today we looked for music for our piece and attached it to our film and made sure the timing was right.
Editing entry 7: Today we added an effect to the end of our piece where it zoom into the victims eye and the screen goes white. We also added credits which means we have now finished editing.

Section 12: Anlalysis of Completed Thriller
Narrative Structure
The narrative of 'Deadline' is linear because there are no flashbacks and everything occurs in the correct order. At the beggining the killer approaches the house and enters the garden but remains unseen to the audience because of the use of a point of view camera. In the middle section of the piece the victim is working at her laptop and because she's tired gets up to make herself a cup of tea. At the end of the piece the victim walks back into the dining room to see the door she previously locked is open. She then turns round and is attacked.
Codes & Conventions
The partial vision model is used because you don't see who the killer is in the scene because he is only seen through his view. The concealment model is also used because the audience are not aware of why this killer is here or who he is. The question & answer model is used because the audience are given questions such as who is this killer? why is he after this woman? why is he waiting? etc. The transformed city model is also used because it is set in a house why is usually seen as a safe comfortable place but it is transformed into a dangerous one when the killer enters the house.
Cinematography
There are a lot of point of view shots therough the killers eyes as well as a lot of extra close ups of hands, the light switch etc as well as a lot of low angle shots and shots from outside which make it appear like the victim is being watched.
Editing
The editing builds up pace later on in the film and there a lot of ectra close ups which it suddenly jumps into. There is also an effect at the end where the camera jumps closer to the victims eye and the colour of the screen goes white and red.
Sound
There is a mixture of diagetic and non-diagetic sound e.g. there are noises such as typing, the kettle boiling etc but there is also music thats quiet and slow early on but builds up as the scene nears the end.
Graphics
The red credits suggest and danger and stand out over the background which doesn't have many colours. The title 'Deadline' is big and bold which makes it stand out and lets the audience know that it's important. They are also red because it was the most popular colour from our audience research.
Mise-En-Scene
There are a lot of shots which follow the victim and other shots from outside or from different parts of the room which let the audience know she is being watched and followed. The lapotop that she is working at shows she's busy and the fact that she has to go and turn the light on shows that she's been working for a while and it's gone dark. She rubs her eyes a lot and goes to make herself a cup of tea which shows she's tired. Her white cardigan suggests that she is an innocent victim and the inside looks bright from the outside which makes it seem warmer and safer however we soon find out that is not so.
